Contemporary Impressionist Paintings
Morning at the Boathouse
The landscape paintings of Karen Mathis portray the interplay of land and water, often featuring gardens, distant shorelines and boats with their reflections. Having lived on one of the coves off the Tred Avon River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, she had a first hand opportunity to experience the ever changing personalities of water during all seasons of the year and times of the day. From the special quality of light at dawn and dusk to the exciting sparkle of water at midday-all appear in her paintings.
